Interview

Only applicants who have achieved a certain ISAT score are called for the interview. Interviews are conducted on the university campus and are usually in the month of September for the Foundation applicants, (this may vary from university to another). The interviews last for 40 minutes.

The interview questions will test the student’s motivation to complete the medicine or dentistry degree, their communication skills including English skills and their general suitability for the medicine degree or dentistry degree.

The university interview panel generally will consist of an academic or faculty staff, a general practitioner and one member of the community. Results from the interview are confidential and anyone who has not performed satisfactorily is informed in due time.

Students who have achieved high grade in the ISAT test and performed extremely well on the interview will be made an offer conditional on achieving high grades in their medical foundation or dentistry foundation.

Some university in Australia have a system similar to the USA where student wishing to study medicine in Australia have to successfully complete a 4-year science or biology degree first, then apply to Australian medical schools for a place on the medical degree or dentistry degree. This is a different route to studying and completing a degree in medicine or a degree in dentistry in Australia.
