The General English course enables students to develop communication skills and an all-round understanding of the English language. The General English course is for students who want to learn English, improve their existing English language ability and the use of the English language.<br/><br/>

A standard General English course would normally consist of 20 to 30 English lessons per week where each English session is 45 minutes in duration. The maximum class in general English language schools would have an average of 12 students in each English class. <br/><br/>
The General English course would normally focus on English reading, English writing, listening and speaking English and also essential English grammar, English pronunciation, English language colloquial, English idioms and English vocabulary. <br/><br/>
There is no specific amount of time in which the student can progress from beginner English level to the advanced English level. The progress from beginner English to the advanced English will depend on how well and how fast the student would learn English and how much effort they would put into their classes and revision. <br/><br/>
Students are normally asked to set an English level test before they start their general English course and depending on the English level test results the English school will place the student in the appropriate class with the appropriate English level. The English school will continually monitor the student’s English level and English learning progress and help him or her to move between different English class levels as the student progresses towards advance English level. <br/><br/>

Students who are at English beginner level will take English classes until they reach intermediate English level. Students who reach the intermediate English level will then be able to study specialist English programmes such as Business English, Academic English, IELTS course, TOEFL course. <br/><br/>
Students at the English beginner level or pre-beginner level can take additional English lessons to learn English at an elementary level through one-to-one English lessons or English classes. In this case the student will have an English teacher dedicated to teaching them the basics of the English language until the student reaches the level where he or she can join the beginner English class. 
General English is normally taught at five different levels of English, starting from beginner English and moving all the way up to advanced English
