Postgraduate master's degree titles

The postgraduate master's degree is an advanced degree and is given higher status than an undergraduate master's degree. The Master's degree is classified as pass, pass with merit or pass with distinction. Students need to achieve 50%-59% to be awarded a pass, 60%-69% for merit and 70%+ for distinction. Note that the master's degree pass classification may vary from university to another. The MPhil is a twelve month full time degree which is taught through research, taught course or a combination of research and taught courses depending on the research topic and the university.
